What Is ISO Week Numbering?
The ISO 8601 standard defines week 1 as the week containing the first Thursday of the year. Each ISO week starts on Monday and ends on Sunday. Most of the world (Europe, Asia) uses ISO weeks for business planning, payroll, and logistics.
The US and Canada less commonly use ISO weeks, but they're standard in software (Excel's ISOWEEKNUM()), international shipping, and manufacturing.
