π‘ EBIT: Measuring True Operating Performance
EBIT (Earnings Before Interest and Taxes) measures the profit generated by a company's core business operations, after accounting for the cost of goods sold and operating expenses β but before the effects of financing decisions (interest) and tax jurisdictions.
Unlike EBITDA, EBIT includes depreciation and amortization, making it a more conservative measure. EBIT is particularly useful for comparing companies where depreciation represents a real economic cost β such as manufacturing, transportation, and capital-heavy industries. EBIT margin (EBIT Γ· Revenue) is a key indicator of operational efficiency.
