π‘ How to Calculate Brick Veneer Materials
Brick veneer is a single-wythe layer of brick attached to a wood or steel-framed wall. Standard modular bricks require approximately 6.75 bricks per square foot (including mortar joints). Subtract door and window openings from the gross wall area to get the net brick area.
Wall ties connect the brick veneer to the structural wall behind β one tie per 2.67 sq ft (every 16 inches vertically, 24 inches horizontally). Mortar uses about one 80-lb bag per 35 sq ft of wall. Base flashing with weep holes is required at the bottom of the veneer.
A 20Γ9 ft wall with 2 openings (15 sq ft each): net area = 150 sq ft. Bricks: 1,013. Mortar: 5 bags. Wall ties: 57. Base flashing: 20 lin ft.
