๐Ÿ’ก How to Calculate Cabinet Door Sizes

Cabinet door size depends on the opening dimensions and the overlay style. Standard overlay adds 1/2 inch on each side of the opening. Full overlay adds 1-1/4 inches, covering the face frame almost entirely. Inset doors are flush with the frame and equal the opening size exactly.

Hinges: use 2 hinges for doors up to 40 inches tall, 3 hinges for taller doors. European concealed hinges are standard for overlay doors. For double doors, each door width = (opening width รท 2) + overlay. Always verify measurements before ordering custom doors.

A 15ร—30 inch opening with 1/2-inch overlay: door size = 16 ร— 31 inches. For 10 cabinets with single doors: 10 doors, 20 hinges total.
