πŸ’‘ How to Calculate Foundation Concrete

Foundation concrete includes two parts: the footing (horizontal spread at the base) and the stem wall (vertical wall above the footing). Footing volume = perimeter Γ— width Γ— depth. Stem wall volume = perimeter Γ— thickness Γ— height. Total concrete = footing + wall.

Standard residential footings: 16–24 inches wide, 8–12 inches deep. Stem walls: 6–8 inches thick, 8–48 inches tall depending on grade and frost depth. Always add 10% to your order for waste, overpour, and variations in the trench. Under-ordering concrete is very expensive.
