💡 How to Calculate Grout

Grout volume depends on tile size, joint width, tile thickness, and installation area. Smaller tiles with wider joints use dramatically more grout. A 1-inch mosaic with 1/8-inch joints uses 10× more grout per sq ft than 12-inch tile.

Use unsanded grout for joints 1/8 inch or less, sanded grout for joints over 1/8 inch. Epoxy grout is recommended for wet areas and high-traffic floors. A 25 lb bag of sanded grout covers 100–200 sq ft of 12-inch tile.

100 sq ft of 12×12 tile with 1/8-inch joints at 3/8-inch tile thickness: grout ≈ 2 lbs. One 25 lb bag is more than sufficient.
