๐ก How to Calculate House Wrap
House wrap is a weather-resistant barrier (WRB) installed over exterior sheathing before siding. Calculate net wall area by subtracting door and window openings from gross wall area. Add 10% for overlaps โ horizontal laps should be 6 inches, vertical laps 12 inches.
Standard rolls are 9 ft ร 100 ft (900 sq ft) or 9 ft ร 150 ft (1,350 sq ft). Install from bottom up so upper courses overlap lower courses. Tape all seams and penetrations with manufacturer-recommended tape.
A home with 4 walls averaging 40 ft ร 9 ft, 2 doors, and 8 windows: gross area = 1,440 sq ft minus 162 sq ft openings = 1,278 sq ft + 10% = 1,406 sq ft โ 2 rolls.
