What Is PCC (Plain Cement Concrete)?

PCC is a mix of cement, sand (fine aggregate), and stone chips (coarse aggregate) without any steel reinforcement. It is used for leveling, bedding, and non-structural applications like flooring base, foundation bed, and pathways.

Standard PCC Mix Ratios

GradeRatio (C:S:A)StrengthCommon Uses
M51:5:105 N/mm²Leveling course
M7.51:4:87.5 N/mm²Foundation bed, lean concrete
M101:3:610 N/mm²Floor base, substructure
M151:2:415 N/mm²Standard PCC work
M201:1.5:320 N/mm²Heavy-duty PCC

Why 1.54 Dry Volume Factor?

When concrete ingredients are mixed with water, the dry materials compact into a smaller wet volume. To get 1 m³ of wet PCC, you need 1.54 m³ of dry materials. This accounts for the voids in loose sand and aggregate that get filled during compaction.
