๐Ÿ’ก How Much Does Sod Weigh?

A standard sod roll (2 ร— 5 ft, 10 sq ft) weighs approximately 15 lbs when freshly cut under normal moisture conditions. Wet sod can weigh 30% more (19โ€“20 lbs per roll). A full pallet (~450 sq ft, ~45 rolls) weighs about 1,500 lbs under normal conditions โ€” up to 2,000 lbs when wet.

Weight matters for delivery and transport. A standard pickup truck can carry about 1 pallet (1,500 lbs). A half-ton truck should limit to 1 pallet. A 3/4-ton truck can carry 2 pallets. For larger jobs, have the supplier deliver. Sod should be installed the same day it's delivered โ€” it deteriorates quickly in stacked pallets.

1 pallet (normal moisture): 1,500 lbs. 50 individual rolls: 750 lbs. Total: 2,250 lbs. Wet conditions: add 30% = 2,925 lbs โ€” you'll need a heavy-duty truck or trailer.
