πŸ’‘ How to Calculate Wainscoting Materials

Wainscoting covers the lower portion of walls, typically 32–36 inches high (one-third of wall height). Materials include beadboard panels, flat panels with applied moulding, or raised panel sections. Calculate the total wall length, subtract door openings, and divide by panel width.

In addition to panels, you will need chair rail moulding along the top, baseboard along the bottom, and possibly cap moulding. All trim pieces are measured in linear feet matching the total coverable wall length.

A 12Γ—10 ft room with 1 door: perimeter = 44 ft, less 3 ft door = 41 ft coverable. With 48-inch wide panels: 41 / 4 = 11 panels. Plus 41 ft each of chair rail and baseboard.
