πŸ’‘ How to Calculate Weep Screed

Weep screed is a metal flashing installed at the base of stucco and masonry walls, typically 4 inches above grade. It provides a termination point for the stucco and allows moisture to weep out of the wall assembly. Standard pieces are 10 feet long.

Install weep screed around the entire building perimeter with 2-inch overlap at joints. Nail or screw every 6 inches along the top flange. The bottom leg should extend past the foundation by at least 1/2 inch. Building code requires weep screed on all stucco exteriors.

A 120 ft perimeter with 10 ft pieces and 2-inch overlap: effective length = 9.83 ft. Pieces needed: 13. Total stock: 130 lin ft. About 78 fasteners.
