Formula
kW = kVA Γ PF
Example: 100 kVA generator at PF = 0.8 β kW = 100 Γ 0.8 = 80 kW

A generator rated at 100 kVA can only deliver 80 kW of real power if the load has a power factor of 0.8. This is why kVA ratings are always higher than kW ratings for the same equipment.
