Ovulation typically occurs 14 days before the next period. For a 28-day cycle, that's day 14. For a 32-day cycle, it's day 18. The fertile window spans 5 days before ovulation through 1 day after (sperm survive up to 5 days, egg survives 12-24 hours).

This method works best with regular cycles. Irregular cycles, stress, illness, and hormonal changes can shift ovulation. For more precision, combine with basal body temperature tracking or ovulation test kits.
