💡 Ice Rink Water Calculation
Volume = Length × Width × Ice Depth. A typical backyard rink is 10-15m long, 5-8m wide, with 5-10cm of ice. Even a modest rink requires thousands of litres of water.
Fill time is estimated at ~40 litres per minute from a standard garden hose. Building ice in layers (1-2cm at a time, letting each freeze before adding more) produces the best quality ice. Temperature must be consistently below -5°C.
12m × 6m × 10cm = 7.2 m³ = 7,200 litres (1,902 US gallons). Fill time ≈ 3 hours.
